one80uth is the High School Youth Group of Cedarview Community Church, located at 1000 Gorham Street in Newmarket, Ontario. Designed for yough in grades 9-12+, the group is open and welcoming to both those that have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and those that are still searching for meaning in their life. Our program is multifaceted , and consists of different events on different days of the week, such as Friday night, small group Bible studies, campus ministries, SNAC (Sunday Night After Church) and more. A Week In The Life of one80uth

Friday Night
We meet Fridays at 7:30 pm in the one80uth room, located at the south-east enterance of the church. Our Friday nights vary, and are a mixture of small groups, worship, games, social, music, and a message. The formal part of the night usually ends by 9:30, and then we move into a social time which includes sports, café, movies, or just hanging out. We also have special events on Fridays such as bonfires, youth rallies, game show nights, coffee house and more. Fridays are run from September to June each year. (Summer we switch to Wednesdays)

Christian Education
Back in the day, this time was called “Sunday School”, and is a time of the week to learn more about things related to being a Christian living the 21st century. This year it will be taught by Pastor Ron and will focus on “The History Of Christianity”

Wednesday Drop-In
Each Wednesday after school is out (from about 3:45) the one80uth room is opened up for youth to come and simply hang out. There is no plan, no agenda, just time to chill. Why go home like every other school day? Come to Cedarview, hang out and watch the Satellite of Christian Music, play some board games or other games, talk with friends, buy some stuff from The Hub (our snack bar). Then, stay and attend Supper At Cedarview at 6:30 and then attend the 180 Uth Bible Study.

Wednesday Bible Study
Wednesday Night Bible Study - This class discovers gems of wisdom found in the Scriptures, and expounds on them to be applied to everyday life.

Other one80uth activities

Sunday Night After Church (SNAC)
Once per month, after the evening service, the one80uth group gets to chill and just relax before the school week starts. Often we go to a uth’s house, and sometimes we stay in the one80uth room, but it is always fun, and there is usually food involved!

Christmas Break Two Weeks of Fun

In 2005 we did something new at one80uth - we held two weeks solid of activities for one80uth. Every day that the schools were closed, one80uth was open. This is something we will be doing every year to keep the youth active during their break from school.

Christmas Banquet

Our only time of the year that our youth get all dressed up, our Christmas banquet is a long tradition at one80uth. A great night of social activity, great food, and entertainment, this is the way to begin our Christmas celebration.

Summer Activities

In the summer we change our day of meeting to Wednesday to accomidate those that go away for the weekend. For nine Wednesdays each summer to meet to to a number of events, usually unrelated to each other but act as a great way to spend the summer. Often, this includes, mini-golf, food in the park, pool parties, Wonderland, Wasaga Beach, Centre Island, Lakeshore Camp, 3-on-3 basket ball, ball hockey, etc. This runs from the first Wednesday in July to the last Wednesday in August.

Fall Retreat

Our retreat from the world occurs each fall, when we load up a bus and head north to get away from it all and spend time together from Friday night to Sunday evening. A great time of mixing worship, teaching, outdoor activities, late night activities, and a midnight Saturday special event.

Spring Convention

In May we take a weekend to go to Oshawa to attend the Eastern Ontario District Youth Convention. This is a weekend of living at the Durham College dorms, and hanging out at the hugh Community Church, for speakers, concerts, worship, and activities. In 2006 our boys made it to the semi-finals of the ball hockey competition!

End of Summer Camping

In the last days of August the one80uth group heads north to the Bruce Peninsula National Park of Canada, near Tobermory Ontario. This is a great way to end the summer and have one last blast before the start of school. Once known as “Grad Getaway” for just those graduating from one80uth, it is now open to everyone, however due to limited space priority is given to the older grades first, but everyone that wants to should be able to attend.
